(Koln-Dusseldorf  KD German Rhine on the Rhine)。

The fifth day of the trip in Germany is to take a boat trip on Rhine. The boat trip departs from Mainz and arrives at Cologne, which takes about 11 hours. We can take a boat trip to get the excellent view of castles along the river. The German rail pass we bought includes free transportation on the boats Köln-Düsseldorf KD Germain Rhine on the Rhine (Köln-Mainz). The boat departs at 8:45 am in Mainz. Therefore, we have to get up very early to catch the first bus and then catch the train fro Heidelberg to Mainz. We met a friendly American-African who led us the short cut to the port. We took the boat trip from Mainz to Koblenz, which took us more than 5 hours. We didn’t have too much time, so we had to take the boat trip, and then take the train to Cologne. After that, we would fly back to London.

The Loreley: It is said that a lady would sit on the rock to tempt sailors into the world of water by her bewitching voices. Heine, a German romantic poet, wrote a poem according to the legend so that the Loreley has become the romantic symbol of Rhine.

The Loreley    By Heinrich Heine

I wonder why I am so weary

What’s making me so depressed?

It must be the tale old and dreary

That’s’ keeping my mind quite obsessed.

The air is cool, night is sinking.

And quietly’s flowing the Rhine.

The tops of the mountains are blinking.

In purple-red sun-setting shine.

There’s sitting high up in the light.

A maiden so beautiful, fair.

Her jewels are glistening bright.

She combs her gold shimmering hair.

Her comb is of most precious gold.

She’s combing and singing so sweet.

                                                               Bewitching young fishers and old.

Their hearts start to quiver and beat.

There’s a man in his boat on the river.

He cannot but listen and share.

A longing is making him shiver.

Look out, the rock’s ledge, on beware!

I feel there’s a crash, the boat sinking.

The man will be swallow and gone.

                                                                And that with melodious singing.

                                                               The Loreley will have gone.

We can see vineyard along Rhine, therefore “Rhenish” (white wine) is the best quality. (Right) St. Gore: the only town we pass by when we took a trip around west Europe last Christmas. (Left) Cherry Baby: This is the baby girl that we met on the boat. I called her”Cherry Baby” because there are two cherries on her hat. We cannot take our eyes off her because she is really cute, smile always on her face. She is such a cute baby girl that I wanna marry a German to have a baby like her.
